Jefferson Memorial

The Jefferson Memorial is a presidential memorial in Washington D.C. dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, one of the most important founding fathers of the United States and the third President of the country. The memorial is located on the south bank of the Tidal Basin, near the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.

The Jefferson Memorial is made of white marble and features a 19-foot statue of Jefferson in the center, surrounded by a colonnade of Ionic order. The memorial was designed by architect John Russell Pope and was built between 1939 and 1943. Inside the memorial is a bronze statue of Thomas Jefferson and inscriptions of passages from his writings.
